I really love hearing about people's favourite characters and why, so let's talk about it!
My favourite is Remus Lupin. I refer to him as 'my baby'. He has one of the worse lots in life out of all the characters, and yet still the most common phrase associated with him through the books is 'Lupin smiled'. He faced horrible transformations from a young age, found friends who helped him through it, and then they were all taken away from him again. He's faced betrayal and loss, his friend (or, in my head, boyfriend/lover since I'm a Wolfstar shipper) not trusting him.
He's had to deal with hatred from the whole society around him, and he can't get a job most of the time. He has so much self-hatred and yet remains one of the most kind people Harry knows. I love Remus so so much.
Anyway, who is your favourite and why?

I love so many of them! JKR did such a fantastic job at characterization that I just..bahh so many good and fascinating characters. But I think Luna is my favorite. I played her in a Potter-themed musical once, and it just made me love her that much more and really start to understand her ^_^

I'd say Harry because of the depth of character - can you imagine an orphaned child growing up in an abused home and still saving the literal world in real life? The strength must be unimaginable. The only IRL example that's even close to that I can think of is reading news of a child who was born with drug-related difficulties, raised by heroin addict parents and still eventually went to Harvard on her own dime. But still, to me what Harry himself represents is the possibility of overcoming every difficulty and not being tainted by the pain the world has inflicted; it's inspirational.

This is hard because, like many HP fans, I love so many of them. I love Hermione because she's a an intelligent, strong, independent woman, which we often see so little of in literature. I love Remus for many of the same reasons you all listed. I love Sirius because he's fun and likable, yet very obviously flawed in a a very human way. McGonagall will always be up there for me too.
My absolute favorite, though? Definitely Draco! Maybe that's a cop-out as a Drarry shipper, but I feel like there's so much more to his character than people often give him credit for. I mean, he grew up in an incredibly oppressive and controlling household, with gross ideas shoved down his throat, yet he still couldn't do the one horrific thing he needed to do, even though it was to save his family. He couldn't kill another human being. He's snarky as hell, which I find absolutely endearing. I dunno, there's just something I really love about him. I love Harry too, but I think Draco is often what draws me in more when I'm reading fic.

I have a thing for bad guys that aren't that bad actually, so I'd say Draco. (Same reason I like Zuko in Avatar for example) But so many characters are dear to me... I can't really choose. Harry is an incredibly well written character, and I love him for the same reasons Aine mentionned.

Definitely Draco. He's a very interesting character, and one of the most controversial. He has so much potential to explore! HBP made me love him even more, to be honest. He's smart, arrogant, snarky, dramatic, malicious and he isn't cut out to be a Death Eater but he has no choice. I also like the Malfoy family dynamic, because yeah, they just seem to be very formal and stiff to each other but yet they have one of the closest family bonds in the series.

I'm always scared to post this because people tend to have such strong feelings about him. Snape is my favorite character. I think he is one the most complex in the series and that's why I loved his character. I also love Draco, Remus, Harry and Ron...it's hard to just pick 1

I can't stand him, but he is an interesting character and I understand why he's the favourite of some people. Your favourite character doesn't have to be a good person. Your favourite character could be Voldemort and still, no one would have the right to make you feel bad for liking him as a character.

It's a tie between Remus and Draco. I have roleplayed Draco for years (and years...and years...14 now, I think), so I feel like I have a major grasp on his character and like his depth.
I'm just flat-out in love with Remus Lupin. *Sigh* So I RP Sirius.

I absolutely adore Draco, and I have a great love for Albus Potter (mostly because of fanfiction, to be honest). I have quite a soft spot for the marauders, and Blaise. There is so much depth to Draco that never really gets explored. It's all about reading between the lines with him, and I guess that's what I like.

I don't have one favourite, I have four. And the order keeps changing but it's always pretty much these four: Harry, Luna, Lupin and Draco. I loved Lupin in PoA, he was the best teacher and I always admire really good and fun teachers. I remember seeing a post once saying that he cuts his friends a lot of slack because he likes to be liked which is something I relate to a lot. I remember a friend randomly told me once that I reminded her of him and that made me very happy And then there's the horrible struggle he went through of being a werewolf, and thinking your best friend murdered your other two best friends. When really the other friend betrayed and murdered the one friend and the other got blamed for it and sent to prison. (Sounds super confusing written like that) but he's like the one who was left behind because of that. And I think it was a mistake to kill him off, every other death I can see why it happened, but I really feel like he shouldn't have died. The moment Luna was introduced in the books she became my favourite character. I love everything about her. I love people who are different and she's such an interesting and unique person. She also says a lot of really funny things. The thing about her is that she honestly doesn't care what anyone thinks about her and that's something I wish I was more like. She's more honest to herself than anyone else. She doesn't compromise anything about herself to fit in like pretty much everyone does, even in little ways. And that makes her not have many friends, but I look up to her because she is just so unafraid of being herself. Draco because of the reasons you've all stated. He's such an interesting character who has this conflict inside him that really shows in HBP. He isn't 'what you see is what you get', he's ultimately good but he'd been suppressing that. And he's clever, witty, mean, and so in love with Harry And Harry. Something always keeps bringing me back to Harry. I know lots of people don't often have him as their favourite character but like Aine said, he'd been through so much pain and came out of it alive. He was willing to die so that there'd be less evil in the world, but was also willing to come back when he COULD HAVE chosen to go on, but of course he wouldn't have chosen to go on because he cares so much about everyone else. I also just love him as a character, how sarcastic he is and his deadpan humour. And I just think he'd be brilliant with Draco

Snape is my favorite character. I think he is one the most complex in the series and that's why I loved his character. well,he's my fav too so hi-5 over there! i have something for slytherin men..and how complex he is generally makes for very interesting reading in terms of plot,if it's done well but on that note,i do like remus & sirius too.just not how they treated snape. have any of you taken this test before?it's incredible detailed & tells you which character from the Harry Potter world you are most like,so if any of you actually bother to take it do tell me what you get haha! p.s. i was remus
