I think the scene where Draco pretends to not recognize Harry in the Deathly Hallows must be one of the most important of Draco's scenes. The scene on the astronomy tower shows a scared boy who can't kill even though his family is in danger. But at Malfoy Manor, he denies recognizing Harry in front of all his family just to save him, he has nothing to gain by doing that and yet he does it.
I'm really curious about what you think of this scene and what went through Draco's head at this moment.

Yes omg the amount of time I've spent analysing this
Like, Harry had 1000 galleons on his head and the Malfoy family wasn't exactly voldy's favourites atm
He risked so much, and the only conclusion I can make is that he cared

Yeah, that is one of my favorite Draco scenes. It says a lot more about his character than the Astronomy Tower scene did. I don't know that he did it because he really cared about Harry, but I feel like he realized that this Voldemort stuff was all BS and that was one small thing he could do to fuck Voldemort over. He believed in Harry and thought he was a part of the solution to bringing Voldemort down.

In the movie, when Draco looks at Harry and says "What's wrong with his face ?", I can't help but hear "My Harry what happened to your beautiful face ?" hahaha
Draco's quite coward and lying like that must have taken a lot of courage, when you understand the consequences of what would happen to his family if Voldemort knew that he failed to recognize Harry when he was right in front of him. All the Malfoy family wanted out of this war, they were all scared. But while Lucius' solution to be safe was to please Voldemort, Draco's idea of safety was to help defeat him in the little way he could. Obviously, he helped more than he'll ever know because of his expelliarmus in the astronomy tower, that's thanks to Draco that Harry became master of the elder wand ^^

Okay, that is my favorite scene. "Well, Draco?" said Lucius Malfoy. He sounded avid. "Is it? Is it Harry Potter?" "I can’t – I can’t be sure," said Draco. He was keeping his distance from Greyback, and seemed as scared of looking at Harry as Harry was of looking at him. Draco, surrounded by Death Eaters, his family and Voldemort, and clearly scared, chose not to identify Harry even though doing so would have been in his family's best interest. I think Draco was scared and he realized that things didn't come out as good as he had imagined with Voldemort. So, I think he risked so much to save Harry because he really believed in him and, especially, in his power.
(I apologize for my english , it's not so good.)

(Acciodwarves, your English is fine!)
I agree with all of you, and it's such an important moment. Draco had to make the choice between what was right and what was easy. And that was the time he chose what was right. For someone raised the way he was, it's incredible.
I think he was tired of living under Voldemort. He was tired of being scared all the time, he hated that Voldemort was basically living with him. WHat he once thought was glory for his family turned out to be quite different. He didn't want that life anymore, and he knew from the past that Harry was a fighter, someone who would do all he could to stop Voldemort.

I agree! He doesn't do that because he likes Harry, but because he doesn't really like being Voldemort's servant, and believes Harry has enough power to defeat the Dark Lord.

This song sums up pretty well how the Malfoys must feel at the end of the war and why he kept Harry's identity a secret. ~feelings~ (You must have Spotify to play the song) Allegiance by RiddleTM
